Hi everyone, my recent story is below in case you haven’t see it and I wanted to get some help and feedback from you guys.  I am no longer having any panic attacks and don’t feel anxiety is in me all the time.  I am however still feeling ill with chest pain that goes through to my back and also my stomach hurts when I eat and I burp and such for hours after eating anything or drinking water.  In addition to these pains, I also have a pain in the lower left back area that comes and goes and hurts when I lay on it (it doesn’t feel like a mussel trouble).  Anyhow, yesterday I went to another physiatrist and told him what’s been going on, he said he doesn’t think I have anxiety and said to read a book if I wanted to and that I didn’t need meds and said he was sorry and couldn’t help me, because of the physical stuff I was having (I even asked if this could be psychosomatic and he said he didn’t think so)  Went to the family DR who said from the first time I met him (10 minutes) that I have panic and anxiety disorder and that I needed meds, that was 3 months ago.  Anyhow, told him all what was going on and with my 2 week stay at the hospital and my heart rate and the last test came back and I have to go for more, he keeps saying that EVERYTHING is anxiety, the pains and such are psychosomatic and that once I get on meds these things will go away, so he wants me to take luvox, which I took last night for the first time, so I am wondering if this can happen, can your anxiety go inside you and turn into these things or is it BS and should I keep on going and getting another opinion.  Guy’s, please reply with any comments, cause I am so upset with everything!

I have been in the hospital for almost two weeks now and just got home this afternoon.  I was admitted because my heart rate was very high (170+ and 140+) a few times and it wouldn’t come down and I wasn’t doing anything but sitting, standing or lying down.  The doctor’s did so much blood work, cat scan of my head, neck, chest and stomach, ultra sound of the same areas, more blood work and 4 different stress tests.  One of the good stress tests came back and said I had artery blockage but the cardiologist thinks that it was a false positive and I have to go back to another hospital to do another nuclear stress test and hope that is okay so I am fine, however they still can’t explain the heart rate so I have been put on a small dose beta blocker to slow down the heart (before this, I would be lying down and it would be 80 and then sit up it jumped to 110 and then stand up it could go to 140 which is not normal jumps, so I hope there isn’t something really wrong with me cause they “just don’t know”.  I have also met with a neurologist who has given me something for my really bad head pains and I have to follow up with him, also had a gastroscapy (they shove a camera down your throat and into your tummy to see if there are any trouble, which came back normal but I am having a lot of GI trouble and again have to follow up with him (major pain on the lower left area were tummy is and all down the left side and to the left back, still causes chest pain that radiates to the back too, which they say is not a heart attack, as I have had 12 or more dozen EKG’s to show this during the chest pain, so it could be just a GI problem or something like that, but who really knows, because the doctor’s have no idea.  My own family doctor said to me before he thinks it was all just panic and anxiety disorder, but I was made to speak to a psychiatrist that told me she liked me and thought I was a great guy and maybe had a bit of anxiety but nothing serious or in need of medication or anything like my doctor thought.  It’s so hard to have a problem that know one knows about or can treat right…let’s just hope the next test shows I don’t have any blocked heart arteries, but that still won’t explain the increase in heart rate while moving around.  I know I am out of shape and over weight, but when I had a stress test done yesterday, my heart rate went up to 200 in 7 minutes and a half and only on level 3 of the treadmill, so something is wrong somewhere!  Was pretty down in the hospital and such, scared and not knowing what to think, so I am home today and going to take it easy for a while until all tests are done and I am feeling better, so I am off work until that time too.

Hi. I suffer from panic disorder. I also have a TON of GI issues.  My gut is always acting up and when it does the pain radiates to my chest as well. AND THAT of course, leads to a full blown panic attack. I have had the stress test, the ultrasound of the heart, the upper gi series....all those test we panic people can talk our doctors into doing.
How old are you anyway? Just wondering by your test and symptoms.
I am just 34 and they never found anything wrong with the heart, just GI that is mostly due to ANXIETY. duh.

I am 25!  They still can't tell me why my heart rate jumps with my movement and stuff and chest pains and stuff.  I was in the ER Monday night and tonight I just got home again.  I am not having any panic attacks yet I am still having GI problems BIG time (burping) and chest pain and I can feel my heart going nuts...I think there is more to this then panic.

Sorry to hear your guys are not feeling well! Have you had thyroid tests? My cousin eneded up in ER with racing heart 150 plus and felt he was having heart attack, it turned out to be hyperactive thyroid. I also have fast pulse, 110 or more if moving around but doc dont seem concerned. GI probs and pains of all sorts can be caused by anxiety. I had a colonoscopy and it was clear BUT I had gut and back pain that would bend me over for years...still do. They gave me Bentyl, it relaxes the colon. I take low dose prozac and it is VERY helpful with anxiety and pain. My mother was in the hospital many many times with pains that they said were from anxiety. She is healthy at 62, they finally found the right meds.

Interesting!  I am sure after they finally say there is nothing wrong with my heart (after the stress test) and then after I speak to the GI people to do a FULL workup front to back and that's okay, then I am not sure what else to do, I still have major pain on my left chest area...maybe an MRI would show something
