I just had a major panic attack that left me at
prompt care where I quickly got a lecture about
panic and how I have to get a hold on it.  16 ER
visits and I do have a Syndrome and Mitral valve
but I have been told my symptoms are made
worse by anxiety and panic.  Don't know what to do
but feeling really depressed about it.  I am on
meds and they do help.  I haven't had an attack like
this in weeks.  Please someone help me think of
what to do when I am having this so I don't end up
in the ER again.  I am so sick of the hospital!!!

Hang in there, it is very frightening and crazy, but they assure we have our sanity.  I am just learning to try and fight this struggle, but you can't feel too bad knowing there are so many of us out here seeking answers.   Don't let the panic win.  THink of what you want to accomplish and focus on the good days you have had, and if you have family, think of how blessed you are.   I know it seems silly but sometimes if I get my mind going along those lines I can distract myself from the panic, the axiety, the songs that get stuck in my head and scary thoughts. ONe thing for sure, you may not but I do Believe in God, and in my belief he really wants the best for all his children, and sometimes we don't make the best of choices. I know I don't always.  As we figure this all out we know one thing ,it is a cycle, the panic and axiety make it worse it is mean and nasty, but some how some way look toward the light and  somehow we always manage to make it another day.

Hi, I know what you're going through.  Have you taken your medication?  Have you tried calling your doctor?  How about a nice warm bath then laying down while listening to easy listening music?  By the way, I have found that lighting is a factor.  Dim your lights a little...don't forget to breathe...it's rather funny, I'm not having one at the moment and that's when I can help someone else...what I suggested to you I learned from a counselor.  Do you have nature music to listen to?  Something easy..
