Posted By Discussion Topic: This Website Has Changed My Life     GuardedOptimism 11-21-2004 @ 2:20 AM                              Member Joined: Nov. 2004 I'm probably jinxing myself, but I had to share this. I found this site two days ago after the worst panic attack of my life. I felt hopeless and wasn't sure where to turn. I immersed myself in all the information this site has to offer. The posts are so enlightening. I've had a panic disorder for the last 15 years of my life, but until I found this site I never knew exactly what was wrong with me. I had never been diagnosed with a panic disorder and never even knew there was a name for what I had. I never knew the causes or remedies because I was always battling a condition that I didn't have. It's only been two days, but I've been more relaxed than I have in at least 3 years. I'm doing the Panic Program with my therapist and I finally feel some hope. Just knowing there are others who are going through the same thing and can provide some insight and encouragement has been so helpful. The most important thing is that I finally realize that my panic disorder has not been due to a fear of any particular situation, but the fear of having another panic attack which is brought on by an irrational fear. I used to think that I was afraid of people or places. I now know that all of those fears were just in my head. I gave them the power. I'm not saying I'm healed. It's only been 2 days, but I feel hope for the first time in years. One day at a time. This website has literally been a life saver.
