Hiya
Well i have been battling anxiety for nearly 2 years, and since then i have watched life pass me by, closed myself off from everyone around me and the outside world.
However, recently something in my personal life made me wake up. I cant share with u what that is at this time, but it made me realise that life is short. It is a gift and a miracle, and can be taken away too quickly.
I didnt ask to be "cursed" with anxiety, but it's something that i have to deal with, and to be honest i can think of much worse things to have to try and cope with. My state of mind has changed dramatically.
Right now.. I believe life is worth living, and i refuse to let my anxiety stop me from living it! Because thats what its done so far.. i've pretty much wasted 2 years of my life... but it's my life, and i say enough is enough. Granted i will still have my bad days, very bad days, and i'll still panic... but i'm determined to have good days aswell!
I walked into a hotel today and asked about getting a job behind the bar or as a waitress.. I conquered the fear of taking the step to change things in my life. To meet new people, and to get out of the house!! I'm kinda proud of myself, but it isnt enough... not yet... i think there is more to come!
I feel like i have used my anxiety as an excuse not to try and achieve things... "oh but i might panic".. "i might aswell stay at home because that way i'm safe"... and ok, fair enough there is a possibility i might panic when i'm out.. but it might not happen! I'll never know if i can do things unless i try.. And trying is always worthwhile. Besides, i got to experience somethings in life.. i cant keep hiding.
Anyway, i dont know if this is classified as a success story, but i've learned that life is too short for me to waste hiding because of my anxiety.

Rachele..
I just want to add.. Dont give up hope! Keep believing in yourself, because i'm pretty sure you can achieve anything you set out to achieve if u want it bad enough. I trully hope you manage to make that trip! Life is a journey in itself afterall, and so is our battle against anxiety. The thing i have realised is that my anxiety does not control me. I have succeeded in fighting them off many times, which goes to show that i can control them
Keep believing and set out to achieve what you want. I hope you are ok.

Sarah, you are very inspiring, truly. I hope you get the job in the clothing store if you want it. My guess is if you have enough courage to go out and apply for the job you will be ok on a full time schedule. And I appreciate your taking the time to wish me luck and encourage me. Sometimes I get so discouraged, like "oh no, here we go again, how long this time, maybe it won't go away this time" etc. Uugghh, anyway, good luck Sarah!

Rachele, i know what you mean by being discouraged. I am still fighting off the negative thoughts whenever i feel panic starting up... But you know yourself that every single panic attack you have will always end! It will always go away. And dont get me know i dont have much courage, i'm just really stubborn and refuse to let it win hehe
I wish there was something i could say to take all the panic away... All i can suggest is stay positive and look at the facts.. ~ no panic attack wil last forever, they wont kill you, they wont harm you, and you will get through it!

Sarah, thanks for the encouragement. You are right, I know that the panic goes away, I don't even have that every day usually. I think I am getting more tired of the moderate anxiety that hangs out all day along sometimes. The absence of the ability to just totally relax. I guess I just need to try to focus more on the good times somehow. Thanks again. Rachele
