Hi All. This forum is great. This whole anxiety panic thing is new to me at almost 40 years old. I only "started" a few weeks ago but have been having a terrible time. Yesterday was one of the worst days yet. I practically dragged my girlfriend out of a store becuase I was having an attack and we raced home. She really just doesnt understand this whole thing. I have been using xanax as needed but it keeps me awake at night. So last night i layed here for hours convincing myself in my mind that i could conquer this. I listed to nice relaxing music in my headphones as I lay on the living room floor (my "safe spot") and just thought about happy days gone by and past situations where i didnt have panic attacks but do now. I finally fell asleep about 3 AM. I slept thru till 1 PM!! I havent slpt so long or so sound in months. Anyway today hasnt been that bad of a day. I got up went out and got food and was able to eat. I have a doctors appointment shortly but am dressed such that I can go for a walk on the beach after. I havent entertained that thought yet this season and i only live a block away from a gorgeous beach. Last night i talked to a gentleman from this site and he drilled it into my head that positive thinking as hard as it can be sometimes DOES help. I think he is right. We will see...but today was and hopefully will continue to be a "good day". Thanks

Hi Peterug glad to hear you had a good day. Not only do you have to have positive thinking, you must change the way you think. Finding out what triggers the attacks really helps as well. Soon it will feel as if most of your days are better!!!
