Hey Everyone!
I just wanted to share my great news with everyone out there and to give you all hope that we can all get better and get out and enjoy life! Yeah it takes time, but slowly and with baby steps, eventually one is able to over come some fears. You see I had been suffering from anxiety and panic attack for about 6 months now. I had panic attacks for the first 2 to 3 months, and was very agoraphobic!!! I wouldn't leave my room or home for nothing!! If it wasn't for the help of a friend I met her and my own positive thinking and knowledge I have aquired through books and websites, I would of never gotten better. I am not 100% better yet, but I have come along way from where I used to be. I was determined not to depend on medication and get myself through this thing on my own. And I think I have done a very good job at reaching my goal.
With the help of my good friend I met on here I was able to get my confidence back up and get out there and try some exposure work. I had done some on my own, but not alot. I didn't have the confidence to get out there. My friend has been a termendous help to me, almost like my own therapist. You see, she too has suffered with panics and agoraphobia for a while now. I too have had episodes before, but nothing like this time.
I am excited to say that I have now been able to get out and do exposure work more often and not concentrate on my fear anymore. I have been able to go to my cousin's house, the library, and a couple of stores and other places. My cousin too has been a great support and "safe person". I have learned that positive thinking is a great help. I was tired and fed up of being stuck in my room and not being able to socialize or be my old self, when one day I told myself that I was going to get through this somehow. And I have come a long way. I want to get better!! It's all about WANTING to get better!! Ever since then I put that attitude in my mind and have succeded slowly but I am coming around.
Don't get me wrong I have gotten setbacks that have made me get scared again and I still get nervous and have anxiety, but I won't alow myself to be afraid anymore. We can't alow ourselves to be afraid of the "FEAR", that is what gets us all the time. There is hope out there as long as you don't lose it!!
Also those subliminal tapes seem to work. I just started on them and so far so good!!! I truly recommend them! My friend that I met on here got them for me and I promised her that I would use them and get better, so that is what I am aiming for!!!!!
Good luck everyone out there who is suffering. I know what it is to suffer like you all do, I HAVE BEEN THERE myself!! It's just great when you feel so much better and happier again! I wish everyone the best!!! AND YOU ALL CAN DO IT TOO!!!! DON'T LOSE HOPE!!!

Barbara,
I am so happy for you!!! You and Anne are correct, in you really have to want it and work for it to achieve it. I found a great little 21 one things to remember, that helps to reinforce our positive outlook.
21 Things to Remember:
1. No one can ruin your day without YOUR permission. 2. Most people will be about as happy, as they decide to be. 3. Others can stop you temporarily, but only you can do it permanently. 4. Whatever you are willing to put up with is exactly what you will have. 5. Success stops when you do. 6. When your ship comes in. ... make sure you are willing to unload it. 7. You will never "Have it all together." 8. Life is a journey...not a destination. Enjoy the trip! 9. The biggest lie on the planet: "When I get what I want I will be happy." 10. The best way to escape your problem is to solve it. 11. I've learned that ultimately, 'takers' lose and 'givers' win. 12. Life's precious moments don't have value, unless they are shared. 13. If you don't start, it's certain you won't arrive. 14. We often fear the thing we want the most. 15. He or she who laughs...lasts. 16. Yesterday was the deadline for all complaints. 17. Look for opportunities...not guarantees. 18. Life is what's coming...not what was. 19. Success is getting up one more time. 20. Now is the most interesting time of all. 21. When things go wrong...don't go with them
Looking forward to more posts here!!!!! And it doesnt have to be full recovery, baby steps are ACHIEVEMENTS thus SUCCESS!!!
