Hi Jackie,
Have you tried Jacobson progressive muscle relaxation? When I was at uinversity I used to run short classes and it seems to work very well for people who have problems letting go, or just aren't into the more esoteric forms of relaxation. It's very easy to learn, you just basically tense parts of your body for a while, then let go and watch what happens.
http://www.unc.edu/courses/psyc145/relax1.pdf explains in more detail.
Good luck!

The panic program also covers progressive muscle relaxation

Hi Jackie-Did you ever get the Crystal Handbook? I carry a teeney tiny bottle of lavendar oil in my car to help with traffic. I also grow lavendar (super easy cause it's drought tolerant:) and love to cut some for a super hot bath at night. Yoga, though it may be trendy, actually works wonders when I actually get around to doing it- check out the plow- it's great for the between the sholders tension. Feng Shui questions regarding your bedroom: Do you have a lot clutter under your bed? Is there a mirror that faces your bed? Are there big corners that point at you while you sleep? Hot Lava Rock Massages are the best, if you are comfortable with massage. A good ol fashion 15 minute neck massage (generally 15-25 bucks) worth every penny.
By far, my favorite way to relax is playing drums, even better when I have someone to rock out with.
