Hi all, Today I challenge you to try to do one thing that you haven't done in a long time or feel like (because of the anxiety) you can't do. Take a deep breath and think positively. Stretch yourself and see what happens. It doesn't have to be a big thing. It could be something small like going to the mailbox. In spite of the fear let's move forward together. Report back to this discussion and let me know what you did and how it felt to accomplish the task. I'm pulling for you......... and I'm off to a dance this evening with 300 middle school students. I'll let you know how it goes!! Brenda

Well done Brenda!! That is great!
I havent done anything today but my accomplishment for the week was driving out to K-mart (like walmart in the states) and getting a refund on an item I purchased. The drive was about 4 k's but then refund counter was at the back of the store and I had to line up! I was so proud of myself for doing it that I rewarded myself with a new top that I purchased on the way out. I was feeling so great I could have shopped all day!!!
I am going to make that trip a weekly thing now just to stay on top. Any setbacks I have are just new ways of learing to cope and are essential to recovery.

WAY TO GO ALLYC4!!!!!! Sounds like you're learning what I consider to be the most important lesson about panic----"HAVE A POSITIVE ATTITUDE"!! It's really hard somedays and it's easy to want to give in to the anxiety--but coping means working past the fear! I'm proud of you for a job well done AND good job on rewarding yourself also!!

One year ago my panic came back with a fury....panic/blackout on a flight from ny to vegas prior to takeoff...was taken off the plane....Im still not well, etc....but decided to spend the one year anniversary of my blackout on Nov 9 by taking a 3 hour flight .....made it but felt sick before , during and after the flight....just goes to prove to me that facing fears is important but you need to find the right medicaction to put the panic into remission, nevertheless, I have flown 4 times in last year....perhaps this will help once my panic goes into remission but for now, constant dizziness, nausea, etc.....still working my corporate job, etc.....rather be in life than waiting to get better no matter how hard each day is....God Bless You All.

I went out to a restaurant for a social gathering with my husband's colleagues. Most of them I have only met once or twice before. I really enjoyed it! It's the first time I've been in a restaurant without experiencing any sort of panic for about 6 months.
After that, my husband and I went shopping at Old Navy (I'm pregnant and NOTHING fits). Its was loud, bright, and busy. All the things that used to flip me into a panic attack quicker than anything. I did great. I tried on 8 different things, wandered around the store, and had to LINE UP AND WAIT to pay for our things. I was also able to recognize the difference between being tired and being panicky.
A breakthrough!
On Monday, I go back to work after a 3 month medical leave. Anyone who wants to send positive thoughts my way on Monday would be greatly appreciated.

Sarah, I was very inspired by reading your post. It has been a long time for me since I was able to go out to eat or watch live bands (two of my favorite things to do). Hearing that you were able to do that witout the panic or fear was great. It gave me some hope.
I know that going back to work seems like a big risk but with the little baby steps I have taken lately, I find that the fear of the situation has been so much worse than the actual situation. Every time I have taken that "risk" and come through to the other side, I feel just a little stronger and more in control of this strange panic disorder. Best of luck on your return, I know you will be great. Cheers, Lolita

Hi!
Today I went to the mall and actually made purchases. Usually I get anxious and dont want to go into change rooms to try anything on, but today I actually did and felt fine. I also booked a trip to the Dominican on Dec. 17th and am working up my courage for the vacation. I wish success for all of you!

Today I had a panic attack and have a big fear of being alone and that if I am something bad will happen to me. But instead of phoning my bf to come over and keep me company I decided not to avoid it and get through this one alone. Although it is hard I feel like a stronger person!

awena good for you, i know it is hard to go through panic attacks alone, but you will survive and you will be stronger. I don't know if you are a christian, but what helps me is walking through the panic with Jesus and having mental imagery to help me, it is still hard but since I started doing this, the panic does not go as long, blessings to you and I am proud of you for being brave to do it by yourself, steacher
