Keeping in mind that every drug affects different people in
different ways, I've been on Remeron for three weeks now,
and feel some improvement.

I'd been having trouble sleeping, and been constantly tense
every day.  I was truly a nervous wreck.  My MD started me
on 10mg for a week, then up to 20 mg.  While I felt pretty
groggy the first few days, my sleeping definitely improved,
and I'm not nearly as wound up as I was.

I find its really helping me with my anticipatory worry--A
percieved upcoming problem would have me in tears, weeks
before anything was going to happen.  Now I'm able to
remain calmer and think a bit clearer.

All in all, I'm happy with how the med is working, but hope not
to need it for more than 6 months.

Hope all is well with you

Lauralai

Yes I've been on mirtazapine since January, 30mgs. I've not found that it has helped with the anxiety particularly, but has helped with my depression which came as a result of my anxiety. I take it at night, as it has a sedative effect ( very slight ). It seems to be more widely used here in the u.k now. The only downside to it is that it slows down your metabolism so you do gain weight !

Neil,
I'm new here, but just wanted to tell you that I had really good luck with Remeron except for the weight gain.  I ended up going off of it when I was pregnant with my 3rd child.  When the panic ended up coming back I was prescribed Serzone which didn't have the weight gain as a problem, but as most of us know, it's not even on the market anymore.
I just started taking effexor - not sure how I am doing with it though, i thought Paxil was better - but again with weight gain.
I hope you are doing well with Remeron though - along with it I was taking Klonopin.

Dear Neil:

I am on Remeron since October 2004.  I started at 15 mg and now am at 45 mg since the lower doses did not help very much.  I guess it is ok as far as anxiety is, I don't know maybe i could be better?  The weight gain is dreadful but it does help me sleep - too much in fact I could sleep all day.  Paxil had more alertness but couldn't sleep.  Maybe there is a better med out there that has a better balance between the two.  If you find one let me know.
