Hi,
I have been for my 2nd appointment for EFT and still feel good! She said that when you do this technique yourself you need to break your problems down as it doesnt really work on generalised problems. She works with me till I get my fear rating down to 0. It amazes me how this simple technique works to rid me of the panic attacks I have been dealing with for over 3 years. I went out for a meal with friends last night and I didnt think about panic once, which is a big achievement for me. I used to think about them 24/7. The website that shows you the techniques in a downloadable manual is www.emofree.com It is well worth trying - you have nothing to lose! Good luck

Ann I hear you. I've been doing the technique myself and find it extremely effective. Although I have also read from that website that there is a generalized effect, after you tackle the major ones. I didn't do the technique all weekend and this morning my commute was soooooooo normal....no panic at all. I have been taking the freeway home, with minimal panic. Today just seemed so different, that I am hoping my commmute home on the freeway will also be zero. NOW, what I must do, is force myself to begin taking the freeway TO work, as that is where I first experienced my panic. The sun has been a real factor lately, and I'm troubled that the first time I attempt my freeway drive TO work, that the sun will add to my anxiety. Don't know yet how to quite deal with that. Can I ask if your therapy is expensive? Can you tell me roughly what she charges? Thanks!

Thanks Cheryl.... I've been missing you!! Yes, last week, let's see 4 days? But only FROM work, not to work. I want to see a few more times with complete comfort to work using my alternate route and a few more times with complete comfort using the freeway going home. Maybe I can work up the courage to try and use the freeway going TO work...I keep thinking maybe if the first time, were at a different time than my original panic..like on a weekend ....later in the morning..when the sun isn't in my eyes... But I must tell you, I really think that EFT thing has helped me....!!!! I find myself less and less, before driving, even thinking about my panic, while driving.

I mean I think for me the exposure work and the EFT are going to work. Last week one day when it was windy, I decided to avoid the freeway. Today was windy and I said, NOPE, that isn't going to be a deterrent. I've driven plenty windy and rainy days before..years and years. So even today, I got mild panic maybe a 1, when my car started to be blown a little, I still completed the trip home with little anxiety. I keep visualizing driving TO work, and well have even toyed with the idea of getting on one on-ramp later with the idea that I have two more offramps that I could bail, if it got too uncomfortable. For me, the more I challenge my fears and force myself to face them anyway, the LESS power my fears have over me...makes sense, though.

Hi Kitcat,
Well done on your progress. You are doing brilliantly and should be very proud of yourself.
She charges $60 for an hour.
How long have you been dealing with panic attacks?

Well I'm still a bit shakey. Don't have my confidence back 100% yet. But, yes, I think I am making progress. My panic happened about a month ago, while driving on the freeway, I had a dizzy spell and it scared the **** out of me. For a couple of days, I still drove the freeway, but then stopped as it was just too hard. Found an alternate route that I've been driving TO work and then the freeway home. The drive to work has been fairly comfortable the past week or so. I want to work on more comfort and then taking the freeway TO work. Lately the sun has been a bit of an issue in the morning. It still freaks me out thinking about dealing with the sun and the commute TO work ON THE FREEWAY, so I've been shying away from trying it. BTW, I did have some pretty severe anxiety after the birth of my first son.(27 yrs ago) I was hospitalized, and then took valium and saw a psychologist for quite some time. Finally though, it just vanished. Hormones, a first, collicky child, coupled with sleep deprivation and an unresolved past, all contributed, I think. Other than the freeway, I'm not anxious at all. I have always been a bit on the hyper side, though.

Hi Ann,
I'm new here, and I noticed you are the only one in this forum who ever posted about pressure in the top of your mouth. Did you ever find out what caused this? Was it anxiety? Did you feel dizzy when walking around?

Hi Lawchick,
Yes I did have the pressure feeling at the roof of my mouth. I didnt find out what it was, the doctor didnt know either. It doesnt happen all the time thankfully though. Do you also get this symptom?
I did have the dizzy spells too, I thought that both these where possibly related to high blood pressure, but when it was checked it was fine.

Hi Ann,
Thank you so much for replying. I totally have that - on one side of the roof of my mouth, and my tongue sometimes. I have been ondering if it's postural or maybe my sinuses. I have some sinus pressure, and I also sit very poorly at the computer, leaning on the my elbow same side where I get the pressure. So my neck is often very scrunched up.
Ann, I'm having a hard time.

Hi folks,
I was just wondering whether anyone else had tried the EFT procedure yet and how they felt it.
How are you doing with it Kitcat?
Lawchick, I know how you feel. Do you find that you clench your teeth alot too? I tend to do this alot and then my gums also ache really bad. Let me know how you are doing.

Ann I have been using it...but I think whatever initial gains I had, they have sort of tapered off. Maybe it makes a difference if you do it yourself, as opposed to a therapist? I mean I think I have gone forward and have total comfort driving TO work, but so far, not on the freeway, just my alternate route. I need to force myself to get on the freeway over the weekend. Coming home, though, I drive the freeway, and experience minor discomfort. So, for me, I am kind of wondering if I should continue with EOF, or maybe accept that this is the best it gets. HOW about you, Ann? How are you progressing with it?

Hi Kitcat,
Well when I have been to see the therapist and she does the EFT then I feel brilliant for days after, then the anxiety starts to creep back in. She said as soon as this happens to do the EFT on yourself till the rating goes down to 0. I must admit that I have been feeling quite tense and anxious this week, but have been very stressed at work.
Let me know how you are doing though.
Take care xxx

Hi
I've just had my 2nd session over the phone. Not been out yet so can't tell if it has worked....my main problem has been driving and a little agorpahobia.
What has beent he set up statement used for your driving issues....mine seemed to be related more to deeper issues than actual driving.
