I used to have a lot of panic attacks in the past.  I thought they were under control but now it seems I get this anxious feeling but it does not go into a major attack.  It is strange I could be exercising and not have the feeling or be really busy and not have it.  One day I went to the hospital and the the Doctor checked my lungs and pulse and told me it was anxiety.  I asked her to run an EKG and she said it was not necessary. She wrote me a prescription for LEXAPRO but I do not want to take medication.

DOes anyone have just this anxious feeling like too much coffee or sugar feeling.  I wonder if drinking 2 cups of coffee a day would do this.

Lydia,

Since you know the difference between anxiety spells and major panic attacks. Do try to cut back on the caffiene for now so that it doesn't aggravate the anxiety more. Try to remember your breathing, exercising, hopefully it will pass soon.

Hi Lydia,
I agree with Trish, caffeine can definately aggravate anxiety. I have read it in many books & have found it to be true personally. I still cant passup my Starbucks craving now & then but I go with decaf or cream based.

Thank you Trish and Chanda but why is it that I used to have caffeine and I mean a lot more than 2 cups a day and did not have the anxious feeling.  In fact I can go days with out.

So how did you all give up coffee little by little that means chocolate too. BOO HOO

Lydia, I still have some chocolate (in moderation) & if it's the taste of coffee that you will miss you can always have decaf & I dont really notice a taste difference.
Also if you are used to having 2 cups a day try having only 1 & see if that helps.

I quit Coffee cold turkey one day, because it made my Anxiety go off the wall. And I haven't had a craving for it since. It's been 2 months."Yeah!"
But, you could also have caffiene withdrawls from cutting back. It's ok though, you'll notice your anxiety will chill out alittle with no caffeine!
Cut back slowly though, it's the best way..
