I have several guided imagery or self hypnosois CD's that I use about twice a week before bedtime. I do find them helpful. Most of them start off with a full body relaxation and then the guide takes you on your journey.

Be sure you allow the proper amout of time and that you are not interrupted. Turn off the phone, isolate yourself in a room etc. It is much more effective that way.

  Nurseboy-

I worked with my psychologist to learn guided imagery. Actually, its not really guided because I lead myself through it. I have found it to be very effective when I am getting to the early stages of panic. It helps me relax and before I know it, I get bored of the imagery and the panic is gone. She told me the key is that when you are imagining your "happy place", as I call it, your brain doesn't know you are not actually there. All the soothing and comfortable feeling about that place come back to you and help you turn off the panic. I hope it helps you!
